Bart Davenport II
Everyone in life has a mission. I sincerely believe that. And no doubt did Romanian Jewish scholar Heimann Hariton Tiktin. See, despite having been born into a rabbinic family, and thus destined to become a rabbi himself, he found his true vocation in becoming an academic and focusing on the mechanics of the Romanian language, effectively making him one of the founding fathers of modern Romanian linguistics. See? Mission!
Which leads us to Bart Davenport, who is still abreast on his own mission to make us mellow and carefree with another soft-rockin’ joint entitled Jon Jon. The song is a force majeure as far as slow jams are concerned, groovy and breezy, carried by Davenport’s golden, pitch perfect vocals, leading the warm, flaxen melody through its laid-back, bubbly laze. Supported by funkalicious guitar popping and smooth bass slides, and fully textured by the blithe shuffle of drums, the discreet hum of organ pads, and the shifty dazzle of a tambourine, Jon Jon’s a savoury sunbeam too grand to be campy, yet still guaranteed to make your teeth sparkle when you smile.
What’s your misson?
