Parts And Labor

They keep pulling me back in

coverart-partsandlabor.jpgAw come on, guys! I’m just getting over the thrills of Dan Friel’s solo Ghost Town album, having put it through grueling hours of heavy rotation in my personal sound speaker system, are you really going to excite and titillate back into adulatory paralysis with the promise of a brand new Parts And Labor album? Geez! Is that even fair? I’m slowly finding ways to return my life to normal after being so consumed with such a hefty musical rush; can my mind handle another overflow of pop-flavoured experimental noise rock? Can my nerves hold under the strain of waiting for another killer album? HELL YES IT ALL CAN BABY WHOO

I will sustain my anticipation for the release of Receivers over in (bloody frickin’) October thanks to Friel, Warshaw, Wong, and Lipstate setting loose Nowheres Nigh, an anthemic, quaking, soundblasting thoroughbred which taps the blistering P&L energy in its raw form and moulds it into a catchy, sweaty piece of stick-in-your-ear wonder. And despite it being one of the more accessible tunes they’ve done, what with the eager guitars and nervy bass hauling this sleigh around, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for some sinewy synth warbling to ebb discordantly and join the thrashing drums into a state of sonic overload.

Such a killer track. I’m scared it may be too good to keep me satiated, though. Hope not. Otherwise, man, am I boned.
