Did you know Batman was Polish? He was at least, half-Polish, to be entirely truthful. It has been pointed out to me that the late Martha Wayne was considered in some circles to make “the best kielbasa” in Gotham City. So either Martha Wayne had a thing for Polish cuisine, or she was Polish herself.
I propose she was indeed Polish, as someone with her kind of money possessing celebratory skills in the rustic art of sausage making makes more sense if it were an ingrained, cultural thing. It’s kind of hard to imagine learning to dry kielbasa while getting ready for the debutante ball.
But it leaves a very nice impression of Martha Wayne, as this smidgen of insight allows us to believe that she was very down-to-earth, despite her fortunate lifestyle. She was probably very much emphatic to the rest of us stiffs. Maybe she would have even enjoyed The Henry Clay People and their song Working Part Time, one of those blue collar rock themes which not only succeeds in elevating the common tribulations of minimum wage earners to epic levels, but also the bare bones excitement that defines such untreated rock. What with its earth-shattering riffs which make the hair on your arms stand on end, crashing down with unleashed fever along the thrusting, clamant drums in great shows of spine-vibrating resoluteness, you can’t but be swept into this wallbusting blast. Even the bass has the muscle to carve an enviable position in this clangoring song, while a piano holds a heartstricken melody of human proportions, for a little extra dramatic edge.
Now I need to know just how much Batman enjoys pierogi and I’ll be satisfied.
