My five favourite songs of the week
Yikes! Another really hard week to decide who to single out as my five favourite songs out of the bucket of tunes I wrote about over the past seven days. There has been a rather spectacular mix of interesting new stuff and old favourites poking around with new material, so it’s rather complex to get the feel for five exceptional songs which are a cut above the rest.
So without further exception, here is the list of my five favourite songs I wrote about in the past week, in order of appearance:

First time commenter, here. I’ve been sort of browsing around here a while after finding you via elbo.ws. Really enjoy the layout of the site and this collection of songs is pretty swell and I enjoy your colorful descriptions. Keep up the good work!

Hi Brock,
Thanks ever so much for the comment. I always kind of have the impression I’m simply writing into ether, so just the fact you did this is a real picker-upper.
Thanks ever so much again!

I know how you feel, Mike! I’ve tried the blogging thing before, and am about to kick it up again in the summer after finals (pretty much for my own edification). So I’m more than happy to pick you up!
Like I said, I really like the layout of the site (really enjoy a clean, easy to navigate site) and you’re introducing me to artists I’ve never heard of, and I spend a considerable amount of time finding new music.
At least from this post, I really enjoy both the South and Little Ones tracks. The Ghost Town track is also very interesting and I like the build to it.

Keep me posted on that summer blog project of yours, Brock! I’d love to check it out!
I love Dan Friel. There are really more and more artists who are making really compelling stuff out of noisy, fuzzed out, distortion heavy ambiances. He’s definitely trying out some exciting ideas.

I surely will! Big, huge, enormous college football fan here. That will be the focus of the site.
Been reading more of the site, and I really enjoy your write-ups. Very relatable stuff and you are very articulate without being overbearing/pretentious like most music reviewing folk.
After finals this week I’ll have some free time to read, and one of these weeks I may take up one of your books and read it concurrently if you don’t mind. I enjoy those kinds of things and don’t read as often as I should.
Although I also plan on buying Grand Theft Auto, so I won’t make any promises, as that game is seemingly a life killer. Speaking of video games, I wish I had a Wii. Used to have an N64 and I was obsessed with Smash Brothers. Too bad.
I am a big fan of post-rock and ambient stuff, and after listening a few more times today I really like that Dan Friel track.
Ramble, ramble, ramble!
