Alan Wilkis
Summer evening dreaming
And, as such, we bring our special, totally planned and well thought-out “Songs For Your Summer Days” edition of A Limerick Ox to an end. And we cap it all off not with a perky danceable number which inspires one to get together with friends on the beach. No, in fact, this one is for that part of summer where you’re looking up at the dusky July sky, clear and pinpricked by a endless curtain of sparkling stars, losing yourself in the multitude, where everything seems wistful and full of endless possibilities.
For those moments, let Alan Wilkis and his Astronaut (Would You Be One?) soundtrack it for you. Wilkis begins the track with some warm acoustic strumming for that campfire feeling. Soon enough, the guitar is inspirited by full band accompaniment, setting a comforting, expectant, downpaced tone, a swaying melody of dreamy well-being. When the synths pour in, the deep pad adds a texture of depth which widens the track’s scope, while the glittery tones complete the spacey pool of echoing vastness. No longer is Astronaut a strictly organic affair, having become a soaring, elevating, otherworldly anthem where everything seems right within reach.
And as the sun sets on your Wilkis-accompanied evening, so does it on our “Songs For Your Summer Days” special event. I hope you have enjoyed my crack selection of sunny tunes. I would invited you to our next special event, but I’m going to stick to making them up on the spur of the moment for now. You know.
