Atlas Sound
The Montreal police service are really taking a beating in regards to their response to the Montreal First Round Game Seven Riot. Critics are saying they weren’t prepared enough and didn’t intervene as quickly as they should have. In defence, the police say they weren’t expecting that level of violence. Reasonable. After all, it’s only the first round. Who the hell expected people would react the way they did after the Montreal Canadians only clinched the first round of the playoffs?
But then again, they were dealing with Montreal Canadians fans, who, as I said before, are not exactly the brightest pennies in the tip jar. So maybe it wasn’t all that unreasonable to consider they’d get themselves all riled up into a frenzy for a win in a playoff qualifying round. Bunch of excitable babies.
In any case, I believe I can impart an ample portion of wisdom upon the Montreal police service by suggesting that if the situation ever happens again, they need to get some cars with adequate PA systems ready and play Another Bedroom by Atlas Sound. In this version of Recent Bedroom scheduled to appear on a bonus disc for the release of Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel in Europe, Bradford Cox has created an atmospheric, sinewy, textured song, both gauzy and penetrating, soothing and entrancing. The instruments vibrate in an ambient assortment of reverberating guitars, keys and vocals echoing through a misty haze of soft, luscious sounds. While experimental in its essence, the song flows fluidly with an ethereal quality which makes it both endearing and welcoming.
So once the rioters hear the dulcet tones, all ill feelings and adrenaline rushes will die down, allowing for calm and peace to fill them into a state of utter bliss. Which will then allow the cops to arrest the whole lot of ‘em.
Stupid Montreal Canadians fans.
