Joseph Arthur

So how fat is Greg Dulli?

coverart-josepharthur.jpgHere’s what I am wondering. Can Joseph Arthur vouch as to whether Greg Dulli is fat or not? I mean, it’s a matter of rather widespread contention that the former Afghan Whigs frontman sports a double chin without having to look down at his shirt buttons. Personally, I believe the whole thing is exaggerated, as Greg comes off more as being, um, “pulpous” rather than outright overweight.

And seeing that Joseph Arthur enlisted fatso’s Dulli’s assistance on Nothing 2 Hide, a track from the second EP of four he plans to release this year, he’s probably in a position to let us know. But besides that, the aforementioned track is a downtempo, smokey, slightly funky affair, in which slow, lusty guitar chords slink hungrily, accompanied by ghosty synth pads, giving it an air of sensual mystery. Arthur’s moody and righteous stylistic vocals demonstrate a poised range which elevates the song to that sufferable ache of heart-twisting desire, perfect for that after-hours, dimly lit, lonely lounge setting, in which Greg Dulli must spend most of his time. Being, um, “pulpous.”
