The Breeders

Outing them as part of the ongoing elf conspiracy

coverart-thebreeders.jpgElves. I’ve touched on them before. They’re amongst us. They live within our society. Silent. Cautious. Unnatural. That’s the part you have to remember: They are unnatural.

And as the great elf conspiracy continues to unfold, only the trained, the truly aware, can successfully spot them out in the open. And right now, honestly, I believe the Deal twins to be part of the elvish fellowship. Have you heard Bang On, the pounding, clapalong single from their upcoming Mountain Battles LP? Have you? You tell me this: how can Kim Deal still deliver such keen, impish vocals after all this time? She’s quite over forty, isn’t she? How can she still hint every syllable with such youthful and frolicsome delivery after so long? I’ll tell you why: she’s an elf, that’s why! Elves don’t get older, they stay the same! And that goes for her sister, too!

It’s just like an elf to provide us with such a head-bopping, percussion-driven track with guitars so minimally used, you’d swear they’re pulling a cameo. Yeah, look at them trying to throw us off by coming up with something which is so completely the anti-Cannonball you’d swear we’re entering some kind of new chapter in the existence of The Breeders.

Elves. FEH!
