Tilly And The Wall

There's no need for sex tapes

coverart-tillyandthewall.jpgHere’s a question for you: the Paris Hilton sex tape… it was leaked onto the Internet in 2003, right? That’s five years ago, right? Chances are, by now, you’ve either seen it in all its disappointing glory, or you’ve grown terribly bored with the simple idea of it. Do we agree? Good.

In that respect, why the hell are blog comment spambots still using titles like “Paris Hilton Sex Tape - Paris Hilton Exposed *HOT*” to trick people into clicking the links? For the sake of all that’s jolly in a breadbasket, can’t spammers at least try a little harder? It’s bad enough that they’re around in the first place, but if they’re going to be jostling around with bored old concepts it just pisses me right off. They can’t possibly be getting the clickthroughs they’re hoping for if their stuff is dated, can’t it?

Like, say for instance Tilly And The Wall were to do that kind of strategy. You know, put up links all over the Internet about the “Paris Hilton Sex Tape” and have it point to their songs. Do you think it would work? Of course not! Besides, there’s no possible reason they’d need to do it; all they have to do garner attention is depend on the strength of their 60s-infused enthusiastic indie pop songs to get attention. And come on, with voices like those of Neely Jenkins and Kianna Alarid charmingly resonating along, there’s no reason for cheap trickery!

But if underhanded link tactics are indeed your thing, I would abandon the Paris Hilton angle and try for something much more intriguing; like cats. Everybody loves cats.
